Over a period of 18 months, documentarian Jez Lewis returns to his seemingly idyllic hometown, the beautifully situated Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, catching up with his old friends – those that are still alive, that is, as many have been lost to drink, drugs, and suicide – shedding light on the self-destructive culture that has built up there, in this depressingly enlightening documentary, which proves that despair is certainly not limited to urban deprivation.
