Crane and Klarik’s satirical culture-clash comedy, revolving around the move of a pair of married comedy writers to Los Angeles to remake their successful British sitcom, unsettlingly mixes acerbic yet warm and farcical humour with moments of often dourly serious drama.

Inappropriate casting decisions, dumbed-down character profiles, a capricious star, a comely co-star, duplicitous, disingenuous executives, and a network president with little interest in anything other than himself ensure that Sean and Beverly’s attempt to recapture their former glories is anything but straightforward, in this promising and often brilliant if slightly uneven (though never less than thoroughly entertaining) first series.
