A writer, who splits her time between researching for her new book and teaching English, begins a sexual relationship with a homicide detective, who is investigating a murder in her neighbourhood, and continues to do so even when she begins to suspect that he might actually be the killer himself, in Campion’s much maligned but consummately crafted and decidedly well acted erotic thriller, which proves to be an atypical one by being both erotic and thrilling.
