A 17-year-old aspiring writer, who lives with her eccentric family in a derelict castle in rural 1930s England, struggles to understand the nature of love, which she believes should be of the true kind even though she only encounters the unrequited kind, as she and everyone around her proceeds to fall for everyone that they shouldn’t, in this gentle and mildly entertaining if generally forgettable period piece, which is most notable for Garai’s assured performance.
