Whilst investigating a multiple homicide, Terrence McDonagh, a drug and gambling addicted New Orleans detective, runs into severe money troubles, and falls into a business relationship with a local crime boss, Big Fate, who is the prime suspect in his murder case, as he moves through his life all but ignoring the thin blue line, in Herzog’s strangely hilarious, thoroughly unpredictable, and wonderfully over-the-top reworking of Abel Ferrara’s 1992 film.
