Three childhood friends, genetically engineered and raised solely for the purpose of providing organs for donation to the general populace, form a love triangle and grow submissively (though vaguely hopefully) towards their grisly fates, in Romanek’s handsome, well-acted piece of allegorical sci-fi/alterna-history, which, in the same century that gave us the Nazis, proves as depressingly plausible in a literal sense in its lack of hysteria and outrage as it does as a metaphor for our own mortality.
